Recycling facility for PVC – flooring in Troisdorf
Through an increased awareness of the environment, leading PVC and flooring producers joined in 1990 and formed the consortium PVC-flooring recycling (AgPR). Amongst others, the associates are: ATOFINA Deutschland GmbH, Altro GmbH, EVC GmbH, Tarkett Sommer AG, Solvin GmbH & Co. KG, Armstrong-DLW, Forbo Novilon GmbH, Polyflor Ltd. (GB), Vinnolit Kunststoff GmbH and the Gerflor Mipolam GmbH.

The process
The recycling of PVC flooring starts with the collection of the old flooring. This is cut into pieces and taken to the nearest collection point. The sorted PVC flooring is then broken up into chips of 30 millimeters max. size. After a magnetic removal of metals, a hammer-mill removes any remaining floor screed and glue. Then, a sieving machine separates the chips from the removed impurities. In a second modernization in 2009 the facility was converted to Siemens S7 and a “SmartWire Darwin” was inserted because of the multitude of drives

Why HIT?
HIT completed this project to the complete satisfaction of the AgPR and has supervised the facility from its construction in 1994. The facility has proved its reliability from the very beginning. Additionally, the material throughput was increased to 150% of the flow rate through a professional optimization of the control structures.
