OTM - Oiltanking Malta Ltd.
Renewal of the SPC-technology to PCS7 for an oil storage facility in the south of Malta
The company Oiltanking Malta Ltd. was founded in 1992 in the south of the island adjacent to the container port and the free port (operated by CMA) in Kalafrana. Since then, the capacities have been increased, in various stages of expansion, to 485,000 m3 with the most recent extension of a fourth location for tanking in 2006. On 4 quays, tankers of different sizes with various crude oil products are being loaded and unloaded.

Project description
The automation technology in the whole facility has been adapted to the most recent Siemens process control system PCS7 by changing the Siemens S5-controls and the addition a DOS-based visualization. Apart from the operation of more than eight 19 inch monitors for the visualization (OS), the facility can still be controlled by eight illuminated push-buttons from the control room, or via on-site operation. This challenging task was planned and programmed by us and, at the customer’s request, realized without shutting down the facility.
